Twizy in all its forms: copies, transformations, projects etc.

I wanted to take a tour of everything that the Renault Twizy has been able to generate, such as ideas for copies, unforeseen uses, transformations, more or less eccentric projects, all over the world. You will see it is amazing!

Copies

First there were an incredible number of copies of the Twizy. We find them in Spain with the Seat Minimo that we always expect, but also in Iran and especially of course in China with more or less happiness, often less than more besides! All that is rather a good sign: when an idea is copied, it means that it is good. By the way, what is the idea? A kind of 4-wheel electric scooter with 2 tandem seats and a body.

Shy competitors

It is also an idea that has inspired many projects among competitors but which never saw the light of day. Why ? On the one hand Renault mismanaged it and its momentary failure discouraged more than one, on the other hand it was perhaps too early.




Yet it is a concept that hits the mark that we even find very early in prestigious video games like the Sims or GTA, 3D creation software like DAZ Studio, or in the form of toys.

Weird cravings

It must be said that when you have a Twizy in your hands, you sometimes want to do strange things: drift or even skateboard, in short to push it to its limits because it is fundamentally fun, it holds really well the road and the chassis is quite solid. Normal it is Renault Sport who designed it.

And then we often want to improve it, transform it, use it differently. So if I myself have done a lot of things in my time, windows, luggage racks, roof racks with trunk, and even shameful things, I feel very small when I see what I'm going to show you now. It must be said that it was Renault itself which launched hostilities in 2012 with the Twizy F1 and Sebastian Vettel at the wheel, which aroused a lot of envy among fans. We then saw the rising of wheel wideners and tunings that were not always so good. There was even a dragster!

Crazy transformations

(See the video) Recently I discovered some videos on YouTube that really made me want to put it all together here. These are transformations that can be really used either in the play area or in a very practical area. First in circuit on clay. Very funny !

But above all this fabulous Twizy reviewed by the company PeCo. Well, it starts slowly with just very large wheels that allow crossings of the all-terrain type. It also allows you to gently pull a cart, but wait, you haven't seen everything. Here is now the same Twizy that the snow will not stop because it is fully equipped with tracks at the rear like a snow groomer! And it's not over, if there really is too much snow, we put skis in the front and that's it! It's crazy no ? and what a great job!

Amazing projects

Others start from the base of the Twizy by removing almost everything .... well, if you really remove everything, you will still have to add pedals!

In the opposite direction we saw an enlarged Twizy as part of an autonomous car project.

 

The Twizy is still generating a lot of enthusiasm. Renault organizes the Twizy Contest every year, an innovation competition for engineering schools. Well the projects are sometimes a little curious like this Twizy which ... is used for what by the way? Shoeshine ? Or this one with a Twizy able to spinning on itself, in the case you find that it does not shine well enough!

 

Dura lex sed lex

All this is astonishing and can sometimes make one dream, but I must also make speak the voice of the reason by reminding you that any modification in the characteristics of a vehicle requires to pass again a homologation to be able to circulate on open road. Otherwise we stay at home or in a closed circuit as is the case on all the extracts that I showed you in the video.
